What You Aren’t Being Told about Astronomy caught my attention and I bought the DVD. Perhaps I’m cynical, but I do enjoy seeing how the experts, including astrophysicists, unwittingly show that true knowledge apart from God is impossible.
Spike Psarris, formerly an engineer in the US military space program, narrates this film. Spike entered the space program as an atheist and evolutionist and left as a creationist and Christian. The DVD cover promises the viewer some of the evidence that caused Spike’s about-face.
Spike says that what we are told is that the universe, including our solar system, is uncreated. According to the solar nebular model, a great cloud of gasses collapsed and began to swirl, condensing into dust particles which stuck together to form the sun, its eight planets, and their moons. The solar nebular model seems to explain why the planets orbit in the same direction, why the solar system is a disc, why the inner planets are rocky and why the outer ones are gaseous.
What are we not told, he says for a starter, is that planets simply cannot form from dust particles.
Dust particles do stick together. But after the particles reach rock size, the rocks do not stick together. Instead, upon impact they break each other up. There isn’t enough gravity to hold them together until they are much larger. In presenting this model, it must be admitted that, “Just how that takes place is not understood,” (Martin Harwit, Astrophysical Concepts 2nd Ed., p. 553).
But of course it did happen—even though it appears impossible—because the universe cannot have been created.
