In my regular reading this morning, these words in Psalm 68 stood out: "God will wound the head of His enemies." Immediately, the constellation figures popped into my mind.
It is wonderful to see the agreement between the natural world and the spiritual world. God is truth; His every word is true. He spoke the world into existence, and His spoken word and His written word agree.
The first half of Psalm 19 describes the wonders of the heavens. The second half speaks of the wonders of God's word. Things we see around us make sense when we know the written word.
God does not want us to be victims of ignorance. Without a full understanding of and firm reliance on His word, we will be misled by the world's philosophies. The world is opposed to God, and its explanations for what we see are false.
People opposed to God pour billions of dollars into science, education, business and government agencies in their effort to use these entities to turn people from God's truth. If we don't care enough to read what He says about His creation, how can we stand against that onslaught? "Faith" is not enough. Faith must be based on truth, and we need to know that truth.
Have "your loins girded with truth," the Apostle Paul wrote in his portraiture of the Christian as a soldier. That belt, truth, like a weight-lifter's belt, protects the back. How can we stand if our back is broken? Think of truth next time you look at Orion's gorgeous belt.
So, to sum up, read the Bible, every day, and lots of it!
