Unique Earth

Recently, a reader commented on my ignorance: "Isolated on a planet so tiny - which can support life only some of the time on some of its surface - stranded amongst an infinitely larger quantity of empty space incapable of supporting life, you choose to believe that somehow, in some way, the universe was made with you in mind."

His implication is that this planet is an accident. However, couldn't the stark contrast between this tiny planet which supports life and the vast universe which does not, be evidence for, not against, special creation? I see it as a clue that God exists and that He cares about us.

Water is one of the important things that makes life possible here. The lack of large quantities of water elsewhere in the universe is a puzzle for scientists. Why isn't water distributed evenly throughout the solar system?

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's, but the earth He has given to the children of men," Psalm 115:16.

  1. Maybe the reader was/is ignorant of what the Bible teaches us. If not, then maybe he needs to read it again.
I agree with you Jane, we are a special planet, maybe God didn't create earth for me personally, but for humans.
    There is a reason.
