Normally by now here in the NW we'd be having clouds and rain, but our clear days continue, and clear nights. And what beautiful night skies they are! At 5:30AM this morning Orion was center stage south, bright Jupiter above it, a waning moon to the west and lovely Venus to the East.
Venus is currently in the constellation Leo, sitting on Leo's chest. Reminds me of John, "the disciple that Jesus loved," as he referred to himself, leaning on Jesus breast at the last supper (John 13:23).
Of course, astrologists make a big fuss about Venus and Leo having to do with "compatibility in love," but the stars have nothing to do with directing our lives. They are signs to us of God's truth—the truth that He loves us, even though the human race as a whole has rejected him, and that He took on himself the responsibility of healing the relationship.
He clasps each of us to His bosom, as did the father to his son in the parable of the prodigal son.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life," Romans 5:8-10.
