A week ago last Sunday, while driving, we watched the sun for perhaps half an hour. It was partly obscured by clouds, making it possible to watch as well as increasing its beauty. Two bright orange and yellow partial rainbows flanked the sun.
I tried to find an image and this one gives the best idea, although we saw many more clouds, the day was brighter, the sun higher and the rainbow parts more colorful.
I love looking up at the sky. Day or night. Somehow it makes God seem closer. Perhaps it's because heaven is somewhere up there, and when Jesus returns, that's where He'll be coming from. Those who saw Him ascend in the clouds were told: "This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven," Acts 1:11.
Later the Apostle Paul was given this revelation: "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
How eager I am for that day!
