My husband alerted me to the brightness of the stars this morning. About 6:20 I stepped outside for a treat. I stood so that the house blocked the crescent moon from sight, giving me a clear view from Leo to the Pleiades. Mars just below Leo, Jupiter in Gemini, Capella the brightest I've seen it in years—and for possibly the first time ever, I saw all the major stars of Gemini.
I couldn't find a worthy picture to accompany this post. None can give the feel of standing under all that beauty.

The added treat this morning was that within a couple minutes time I saw two meteors, both very bright. The Leonids are starting! I've never seen them because of our perpetual autumn clouds. This may be the year!
